frequent rebeautifiers

Some things we rarely talk about on here are food and beauty - both are subjects we devour equally.  So it's time for a show and tell of sorts.

Do you swear by anything?  I'd love to know your beauty routine!

Until about a year ago, I never washed my face before bed and never wore eye cream.  I think 30 must have some subconscious effect, because now I'm diligent about my morning and nightly routines. That or hearing that sleeping in your makeup adds 3 extra years to the age your skin looks.  Ew.

The routine:

  • Trader Joe's 'Ginger Almond' Soap: my husband loves it because it exfoliates, but I like that it's not too harsh and smells pleasant but not overpowering.  I was formerly a Dove white soap kinda girl but this is nice.
  • Burt's Bees 'Peach Willowbark' Pore Scrub: best cheapo exfoliator yet.  Not as harsh as St. Ives apricot scrub (that myself and every 16 year old swears by because it's so strong you can feel your skin peeling off) but similar price and you can feel the beads working.  Nothing worse than not being able to feel the grit.
  • Estee Lauder Eye Repair: don't really know. Feels nice but I only use an eye cream because I think I should.  Not because I've noticed a difference.
  • Philosophy 'Purity': Mild enough for bedtime but strong enough to remove your mascara and eyeliner!

  1. It's hard to take the time for a good routine. I always notice a difference when I do. Great products, I need to check out the ones I'm not familiar with.

  2. Hi Bethany, you are a young chicken so you might not need this yet, but I have recently found two products I swear by. Firstly, let me say that I have always used department brands - Estee Lauder, Laura Mercier, etc., but recently have been making a big effort to reduce the amount of money I spend on cosmetics. I needed a concealer, and after spending a long time perusing the offerings at CVS noticed a collaboration called 'Covergirl + Olay'. I bought the 'Concealer Balm', it is absolutely fabulous, and the 'Tone Rehab 2-in-1 Foundation'. I have only just started wearing foundation at 44 - it always seemed time-consuming and heavy - but this is so light and easy to use. I cannot recommend the two products highly enough.

    1. Phyllis, this is an awesome tip for me! I've been using BB foundation and it's not quite covering enough, so I will try your suggestions! I love YSL Touch E'clat for concealer, but game for trying yours as well. Love these tips!

  4. I so need a new face wash. I too have sensitive skin so I'll be checking back to see what everyone says. I recently started using Dior Instant Cleansing Water with Pure Lily extract and it's helped tremendously! I don't think I'll ever go without it!

  5. I love L'Occitane products. Also, a bit of EVOO on my face before bed once in awhile is wonderfully soothing to my super dry skin.

  7. You know, I can see my face look more dull if I don't wash my face before bed. I don't want to sound like an ad but after ordering the products for my new shop I will say that One Love Organics is the BEST line of beauty products I"ve ever used. The waterless balm is my new moisturizer of choice.

  8. I'll have to try some of these. I agree on the La Mer. I'm about out, and it will make me ill to restock, but I will! It's so worth it!

  9. Nancy! Great line-up!! I too love La Mer, but just can not justify the price with retirement and have found the Eucerin product from Paris to be wonderful. I hope you get a chance to read my last post on tried and true skin care products. I am always open to trying new products so love all the information I can get.
Here is the link to my skincare post if you would like to read it........
